NYPhil in North Korea Liveblogging

Morning folks. It’s 3:50am, that grey area between night and the next morning when most sensible people are in a blissfully deep sleep. Miss Mussel is, however, awake and readying herself for the biggest concert event of the millennium.

In the style of the great Guardian Over-by-Over reports, what is follows is a minute-by-minute commentary of the concert filled with witty and insightful commentary. Well, at least commentary that appears to be witty and insightful to Miss Mussel’s barely alert brain.

Right, then. Here we go.

3:55am: Just doing the final check here. Hot tea on the nightstand, a banana and apple to help keep the synapses firing for the next 150 minutes. The window is cracked a little in the hope that an influx of -4 air will encourage alertness.

3:58am: The excitement level is starting to rise as the brainfog lifts and Miss Mussel heads over to EuroArte.tv to catch the stream.

3:59am: Bloody hell. It seems that even the intrepid OM has been caught in the web of international broadcast rights. The IP address that brands her as a North American has resulted in a message of “You are not allowed to watch this program for copyright reasons” popping up in place of a video of Maazel and co.

4:01am: Well there’s only one thing for it. Night everyone. See you in the morning. The real morning. The one with the daylight.

11:13am: Forgot to push publish in the wee hours.

12:34pm: Found a feed that may work at 1pm. If so, stayed tuned for an OM Liveblogging extravaganza.

1:14pm No such luck. Looks like we’re going to have to wait until it comes on PBS. In the meantime, check out what the press is saying. There is some good video at CNN.
3:00pm Feeling seriously vexed as have discovered that there was a feed freely available on the PBS website. So nice of the man at WNET to let Miss Mussel know about this, especially after he promised he would keep her updated as to the status of a live feed becoming available. Cheers, public broadcasting.
