Quiz #10: Like Clockwork
Ladies and gents, quiz lovers one and all…..this week’s winner is Ian Goh who wrote in with To A Poet A Thousand Years Hence, a song cycle by Gerald Finzi composed intermittently between 1921 and 1956. In addition to being now officially awesome at life, Ian has reached into the dark recesses of his memory to posit that the cycle is “not a hardy setting and it’s not precisely datable beyond 1920s because it was only collected into the eponymous cycle after his death.”
Anyone else know for sure?
The performer for this week’s quiz installment is none other than the young Canadian baritone Michael Adair. He makes the occasional comment in these pages under the name Frère Mussel. You can work the rest out.
If you wish to hear the rest of the song cycle or a cracking version of Danny Boy, head on over here and click on audio.
