Sometime during the last month The Omniscient Mussel slid by its second birthday. Although she occasionally entertains the idea of giving it all up and is often frustrated that there aren’t enough hours in the day to accomplish what she would like, on the whole Miss Mussel has grown quite fond of this space. It’s been a joy to share news and ideas (both serious and silly) with you.

In lieu of proper birthday cake, Miss Mussel would like to offer this delight: the peerless Nina Simone playing Love Me Or Leave Me. The sound balance is a bit crap but crank up the stereo anyway, sit back and enjoy what must surely be one of the greatest jazz solos ever.
